The Admiralty:
Alert! Incoming Message

Greetings Commanders! This is The Admiralty William Crooks here.

Mission Objectives
What are my reasons for taking this class? I've wanted to start a web design business for a few years. I learned to code during the pandemic shutdown (still barely scratched the surface) and I felt this is a logical step. Plus, I want to stop working for someone else.
Achievement Unlocked
What am I hoping to get out of this course? I'm hoping I will develop the skills necessary to start my own web design business by the end of the semester
Origin Story
What makes me a creative person? Well, in my case it was an actual dream. The dream was so cool that I decided to write it down. This started me on the path of writing. First it was one book, then a trilogy, then a series, now video games. I have so many ideas that I spend a couple hours everyday writing down my ideas to develop into video games later. My current trejectory has lead me to studying Law. I have a burning desire to change the world and I feel that Law will help me get there, know your enemy sort of thing, and then use the money I make from Law to fund my creative empire, then use my entertainment empire to fund my world saving projects.
My Ambitions Cannot Be Stopped!
What inspires me to design, express, and comunicate? Anyone who knows me, knows my imagination is limitless. I also have a strong moral code, in fact, that has pissed off my fair share of employers because I won't tolerate dishonesty, and I posses an unquenchable desire to make the world a better place. I have always loved video games but what inspired me to use my imagination in this way was the line from the video game "Batman Arkham Knight". In the game when Batman is reducing the blast radius of the chemical bomb, Alfred is pleading with Batman to save himself. Batman responds by saying, "It's what you taught me. Do the right thing. That's all that matters." That line hit me hard. I was taught the same thing by my parents and I felt that if everyone thought like that just a little bit more, then the world would be a better place. I hope to use my designs as a medium to inspire others to always do the right thing.
From DARPANET to SkyNet
What kind of relationship do I have with the internet? My relationship with the internet is quite a wild ride. My parents worked for DARPA and worked on the DAPRANET project which evolved into the internet. My dad worked on SymNet which linked NATO tank simulators by inventing servers. My mom wrote the US Army's first manual for their first PC's. Her favorite story was how the first instruction was "reach hand around back of device and flip power switch to 'on' position." I grew up side-by-side of the internet, we both experienced our growing pains together, and I was raised by the people who invented it.
