Short Biography

Hideo Kojima was born on August 24, 1963, in Setagaya, Tokyo, and grew up in Kobe, where a strong interest in film and storytelling shaped his creative outlook.[web:1][web:5][web:7]

He joined Konami in the mid‑1980s and gained recognition with the original Metal Gear on MSX2, helping to establish stealth action as a major game genre.[web:1][web:8]

In 2015, Kojima left Konami and re‑formed Kojima Productions as an independent studio, later releasing Death Stranding and continuing to explore experimental narrative-driven projects.[web:1][web:3][web:7]
