Reasons for learning web design
The reason I am learning web design is to develop my own website. I hope to become more confident in translating my imagination and ideas into something visible and tangible by the end of this course.
Making me a creative person &
Relationship with the Internet
Lately, I have been journaling and developing my creativity. It includes thinking, writing, and drawing my ideas on paper by hand. I feel more comfortable and engaged working in an analog way rather than using my phone or iPad. However, I do a lot of research online, I cannot ignore it. The internet is a vast world and community. Without physically going anywhere, you can travel and experience many things indirectly. It is a big part of my life, and I am often online. At the same time, I try not to rely on it too much. I intentionally keep distance from the internet, especially social media, to give myself space and focus more on myself and my physical surroundings.
Three websites or apps I use every day
I primarily work through hand drawing and writing first. Then I use Photoshop, Procreate, and Final Cut Pro to add the final touches and complete my work. The more I use these tools, the more I want to learn them deeply. That is why I am studying graphic communication and web design.
Inspiration, own design ideas to the web - Three websites or apps
I enjoy visiting websites where classic aesthetics meet modern design and new technology. I have always loved the Hermes website, especially the way they animate their pages and present their new collections. I also loved how Chanel recently showcased their collection with bird animations. Yes, I do have a background in fashion design, and it continues to inspire my work even outside of fashion. I am also inspired by architecture. Whether designed by well known architects or not, old and new buildings alike inspire me. I enjoy observing the lines, materials, and finishes of buildings.
When you get out of the course...
I recently started building my own website, but I wasn’t entirely sure what I was doing or what I was supposed to be doing with it. I hope that by the end of this class, I will gain clearer ideas and direction, and feel confident enough to make it visible to the public.
